Like many business owners and sales professionals we speak to new prospects and write simple quotes or elaborate proposals everyday. Some hire us, others do not. Some become customers for life, others drop off the face of the earth. We have come to accept and understand that not everyone is ready to move forward with a project. To take that idea even further, we have come to love all prospects and potential customers, even those who inquire but do not hire us.
For many business owners and marketers it is a luxury to be able to produce video content that stands out. Lots of companies and brands are pumping out video content but the fact remains that great creative concepts and videos with high production value still command a premium price. The trend seems to be that with social media videos for business, bad is now acceptable, good has gotten better, but great clearly remains out of reach for most. Many times those who are just beginning to develop a video content strategy or shopping for a video production partner are surprised at the costs related to professional video production.
Sometimes the cost of coming up with and then producing a great concept is not the biggest stumbling block. There are times when the logistics, timelines or product or subject availability is an issue. There are times where a concept is a risk, and that a smaller, simpler concept is the right solution. In some cases hiring a video production company just doesn’t match the client’s needs. They don’t know until they ask.
At Mosher Media, we welcome the ask. We encourage the inquiry. There are no circumstances where we would ever be offended or upset if what we do isn’t going to be the right fit. We will write quotes and proposals all day even if we know in advance that it’s unlikely the project would move forward. We appreciate any situation where someone took the time to get to know us and explore our services.
If I sold cars I would let you come in and test drive every new car on the lot, even if I knew you were probably going to buy a used car from your brother. Even as you left without buying I would thank you for coming in and follow up with a note.
If I ran a retail shop I would be genuinely appreciative of an individual who did not want to buy anything but came in just to see what we offered. My thank you to them would be just as enthusiastic as it would be to someone who made a purchase.
Researching and evaluating video production companies is not easy. No two companies do the same thing. We understand that, and we recognize that success comes when the client-vendor match is right and when all are aligned in values and expectations. The way to get there is to explore as many opportunities as possible, to never pre-judge a situation and to treat everyone like they may someday be the big client, even if that isn’t going to happen today.
